Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada but grew up in the US. She's worked as a media critic since 1995. Feminist Frequency was established by Sarkeesian. The website hosts videos which include commentary on gender representations in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and an American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency explores how women are represented in the popular culture. In addition, she works to highlight the problems surrounding sexual harassment and attacks on women, others of minority groups in the online world, she is committed to breaking the stereotypes prevalent in pop culture. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in political thought and social theory at York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public presenter. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was interested in gender issues and feminism from a very early stage of her life. When she graduated in 2009, still studying at university, she created her Feminist Frequency site. It was a girl with a dream to develop a series of web videos that would examine how gender is represented in games. But, she was the target of cyber-bullying. The harassment didn't discourage her. The experience only strengthened her as a journalist who is feminist. The award-winning journalist has received numerous accolades to recognize her significant contributions to the world of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian is an award winner for her media criticism and is the co-founder of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit which studies the portrayals of women in pop culture and the narratives that surround them.
